	Volume 6, Issue 4 CATCH YOUR BREATH! AUGUST 2002


	Ken Coble wants to do it his way. He is a man who never sleeps since he has a full time job in Maryland, trains three horses at Bowie and runs a farm with broodmares and yearlings in West Virginia. Ken has learned the horse racing business with his own hands. It has been discouraging at times, but not on July 11th when his homebred Mint Prospector, 1999 r. g by Prospector Mo, broke his maiden at Charles Town in a Maiden Special Weight. Mint led all the way, was headed at the stretch but turned the other horse back. This was a maiden win for Mint, and for Ken Coble as a owner, breeder, and trainer. Congratulations!!!


	Another man who does it all is Dave Belknap. Wild About Jackie, b. f. by Jack Livingston, won on June 2nd, and June 16th at Mount Pleasants, then again on July 26th at Great Lake Downs, going to the front and leading the pack. Dave's other charge, Leapshin, by Finocchio, won on June 18th at Great Lake Downs. He usually follows in his sister's style of front running, but on August 5th in an allowance race at Great Lake Downs, he dueled inside down the stretch for the win.


	WIRT is Second in the Nation in number of wins with six wins in 2002. The Eagle Point Farm owned and bred five year old filly by Purple Comet won another starter allowance on June 7th at Penn National. Flint Stites trains the check picking up filly who has 6 wins, 2 seconds, 1 third and 2 fourths in 11 starts this year.


	AKEE is catching his breath!


	Just need to change the dates for this mare. Pohatan Princess, 1996 chestnut mare by Goldlust, won on June 8th at Pimlico in a 1 1/16 mile race. Darrell Gilliam of Chesterfield bred this Virginia bred filly.


	Apache Flame, 1999 filly by Foxhound out of Fabled Colony, won by 1 3/4 lengths in breaking her maiden in a six furlong race at Pimlico for owners Kevin Pipes and King T. Leatherbury on May 30th. Leatherbury trains the winner.


	Arley T. wins for owners and breeders Robert Bouse of Chesterfield and Eagle Point Farm. The 1998 Fred Astaire filly won at Penn National on July 27th by two lengths in the mile race.


	SECONDS: Glenraven- b.g. by Zafonic, at Penn National on June 6th Hegira- Eastover Court filly, at Charles Town on June 26th and July 25th for owner/breeder Jim Ryan Ideate- Eastover Court filly, at Charles Town on July 27th for owner/breeder Jim Ryan Takeitlikeaman-a hard knocker, at Charles Town on July 12th. Blanc- 1999 Chenin Blanc gelding who put in a game performance at Colonial Downs on July 14th for owner and breeder Jinnie Cohn..


	Festination Rhythm scored another win for breeder Dave Slawek of North Carolina at Penn National on June 26th in a mile race. Tinnie just keeps on winning! The Goldlust gelding won by 7 lengths and was drawing off in the 7 furlong race at Charles Town for breeder Marshall Dowell of Mechanicsville.
